Name: Thomas Polentz
Grade: Sophomore
Year in AG: 2nd

Why do you wish to serve as an FFA Officer?

I wish to serve as an FFA Officer so that I can be a leader that someone can depend on and ask for help if they feel lost. I want fellow students to know that I can help them with any questions that they have about the Chapter. So that they know that they can come to me at any time because I want to be one of the faces of the Sunny Hills AG program. I wish to serve as an FFA Chapter Officer because one of my other goals is to serve as a State FFA Officer one day. I want to strive for bigger heights in FFA and want to go higher. I wish to be an officer because I love helping people, I really love FFA, and I want to participate in all it has to offer.

From what you understand, what do you believe an officer's responsibilities are?

I believe an officer's responsibilities are making sure that their chapter is in check at all times and making sure that students feel comfortable within their chapter. Another officer's responsibility is making sure that students develop and learn how to be leaders. In addition, they should make sure that they learn the qualities of leadership that an FFA member should possess. FFA officers also should be encouraging all FFA members to be active within FFA Program and make sure that people go to social events.  They also coordinate with each other on how the social events should be, so FFA members have fun.

What qualities do you possess that would make you a good FFA officer?

The qualities I possess that would make me a good officer are being a good leader and learning from other people's leadership. Other qualities I have is I am outgoing and passionate about learning and helping others to develop their strong qualities with our FFA Program. In addition, I always try to participate in the FFA Program or other Chapter events to gain better knowledge as a potential leader. I am a hard worker, and I can have that quality while being an officer for Sunny Hills. I possess good ideas and if anyone asks for help, I can always be there.

What FFA events have you participated in?

Vet Science Competitions, OOC, Section Leadership Conference, State Leadership Conference, Lancer AG day, went to every Social event

What part of the FFA emblem best represents you as an individual? Why?

The Rising Sun best represents me as an individual because I always want to progress further within the FFA Program and always want to try new things that people wouldn't try.

Besides FFA - what other activities are you involved in? Do you foresee any other activities to cause time conflicts with your service as an FFA Officer?

I am not involved in anything after school. I do not foresee joining anything
