Fair Information

Each year students are given the opportunity to raise a Livestock animal which includes: Steers, Calves, Sheep, Goats, Swine, Broilers, Turkeys and Rabbits. Students will then attend market and showmanship competitions at local fairs; including La Habra Spring Citrus Fair and the Orange County Fair. The market competition is judged based on how well the animal was raised by the student, as well as its meat quality. Showmanship is judged based on how well the student expresses his/her knowledge and skills about the species. If the student wins first overall in their species, he/she will move on to Master Showmanship where they will be put to the test on how well they can show Steers, Calves, Sheep, Goats and Swine. The La Habra Spring Citrus Fair is a one day competition, and the Orange County Fair is a ten day competition; during which students will be assigned for mandatory barn duties. These duties require the student to stay in the barn at all times, making sure that each animal has water, is well fed, and preventing any disruptive actions towards the animals from visiting patrons. Meetings for both students and parents will be held one or two months prior to the fair date. For more information please

IMPORTANT DOCS:

BUYER LETTERS:

It is recommended that each student send out a "buyer letter" to long-term FFA and 4H supporters throughout the community. Students are to include information about themselves and their animal as well as any other information they would like to add. These letters will help students receive add-on donations or even help find a potential buyer for their animal.
